Pavel Datsyuk resigned.

Pavel Datsyuk resigned.

By. Amanda Lynn

Has General Manager Ken Holland checked the statistical range since last season or the season before that on forward Pavel Datsyuk?

One would assume not.. Is this 6.7 million dollar signing worth keeping a non playoff performer on the ice seven more years?

It just doesnt make the proper sense that Ken Holland would make this call, Pavel Datsyuk has a total of three goals in all of his playoff stints where he has played, and he has played every season he has been in Detroit.

Zetterberg hasnt played every playoff stint and he still has more goals (with 9).

Doesnt make sense to keep a player that is not a performer.

Lets take a poll a none bias one:

How many of you, would like to have P-Dats back even though he doesnt perform in the playoffs?

Im hoping that none of you would raise your hand.

because the playoffs are what counts in all games over all, its the blood, the sweat, and the Tears, and how many times you put that puck in the net!

Dominik Hasek Sprawls for the Puck!

Wings Hold Their Own.

Wings Hold Their Own.

To say the Wings Dominated was an understatement as they beat the Calgary Flames , game 2, 3-1 victory..

Mikka Kiprusoff faced 55 shots last night, as the Wings Dominated in the flames end.

There was a key goals from Pavel  Datsyuk, Vlatteri Filpula, and Niklas Lidstrom.

Calgary remained behind most of the game. Which proved yet again the Red Wings were the better of the two teams again last night.

The Keys to Calgary winning a game, would be possibly to  drive to the net, take chances, and try to get that puck Behind Dominik Hasek.

Kipper was the best player that game keeping the scoring to a low Margine, but still no dice for the goalie that tried to stand on his head after facing the shot against Pavel Datsyuk, there was no possible way the goalie could have stopped it.

Even Dominik Hasek said, "that shot would have not been able to be stopped, its a hard shot to control."

Penalties were also a problem for the struggling flames, the next game will enevitably have Calgary chomping at the bit since they are at home against a great Hockey Club in the Detroit Red Wings.

Bertuzzi should show for game three, nothing is promised but the offensman feels ready and Im sure the team is ready, his physical presense will definitely be needed as Detroit goes forward through round one.

Even Dan Cleary stated:

We know they're going to come out flying. We have to match their intensity and will," said of Tuesday's game.

"We know what we have to do to take care of business. We have to play this type of game."

And play that kind of game they shall because nothing is sealed until that fourth game is won and they are ready to move to the second round.

For now, its just a muse, till this whole thing is over.

Playoff Preview

Playoff Preview

Well it doesnt take long for the playoffs to arrive, now its time to lace up the skates, and get ready for the Wings vs flames series.

This is definitely sink or swim for Detroit, they have to reprove that they have what it takes to be playoff contenders for a Stanley Cup.
Alot of the prices ride high in Hockey Town, as fans will get restless this season, and Babcock's job possibly being on the line would be every reason to win at least round one.

Noone can deny the past couple of seasons have been flops. With the departure of Steve Yzerman and Niklas Lidstrom's first playoff series as a captain, will he be able to rally the troops? Yes, they won the division lead, that was great on their part, but whats next Red Wings, are we going to see playoff action or be staring at the green grass and golf tees this summer? One would only hope not, as they start the first round tomorrow night against the Calgary Flames.

With Bertuzzi still a question mark will the Wings play like that team that is ready to play in the playoffs, lay everything on the line or will they give up and let this series go for knot?

well the question still remains as wings fans are skeptical as to what will happen next, used to be we would say well, we got the cup, or there is a good chance at winning this year.. well, now that cant be said, it can only stood to be proven.

Detroit has to prove their worth, They have to prove that they earned that wingedwheel crest on their chest this year and get this thing going and not be down 1-0. with recent play it would seem that they would probably have a chance to at least win a couple, but no, Im more demanding, I want one series! it may sound like a little kid running through the authentics store saying i want this or that, but as a fan sitting in the seats at the Joe Louis Arena, lets get this thing started, the fans do their job, and thats cheer for the home team! the question is will the players return the favor, one can definitely only hope.

Dominik Hasek will have to be the Playoff Goaltender we know that he can be of course, making the Key saves on these players that penetrate our defense. no getting sucked outta the net! stay in there like glue.

Defense needs to remain strong and tough and not let these guys just skate on through. and the Offense, Datsyuk ( who needs to prove hes worth his new contract), and Zetterberg and Bertuzzi ( who is riding on weather whe will be back or not) need to step up their play, this will need to be a team effort a fight to win for Hockey Town.

with the regular season gone, all that is important is that Stanley Cup, and the only way to get it is to be a team, put the blood, sweat and tears into it, and not give in at any cost.

being healthy is also key in winning. but playing with courage , determination and using your head can also help. so whats next Mike? are we going to have a team or not, or the next question could be posed to Holland, what are you going to do next year to insure we are more than just first rounders? or who knows, we may see an exit for Ken Holland, after all hes getting older. Time will only tell on this.
